off-day

tomorrow i have off from work and it's going to be stellar, especially since i didn't ask for an off day. but tomorrow night i'll also be going to see The Fray w/ Jack's Mannequin at the PNC Pavilion with jen. hopefully it'll be as good as the time we saw them 2 years ago, to the date. an all-male rendition of 'Hips Don't Lie' was pretty unexpected but mighty hilarious.

now that i think of it, that was my summer of concerts. i think the total was nearly 20 concerts by the end of 2007. the first of the year was The Fray w/ Mutemath. at the time i had no idea who Mutemath was, but at that concert i thought they were way better than The Fray. but i digress. after that it was hellogoodbye w/ boys like girls and the rocket summer, then the honda civic tour (fall out boy, the academy is..., cobra starship, +44, paul wall). oh gosh now i know that i'm going to get these all out of order.

here's a distraction, i love the golden girls! particularly blanche's lust-filled tangents because she gets so caught up in her own little world that she forgets she's in a room with other people. my poor family is trying to sleep and i keep laughing. oops.

what a day

today was another Father's Day spent without the father. well, that is only to say that he was at work and won't be back until tomorrow afternoon. oh firefighting! so we'll actually be celebrating daddy-o's big day on monday.

anywho, i celebrated today by going on a baking slash cleaning spree which was pretty relaxing.

dad declared this his new absolute favorite dessert EVER! and that's a pretty bold statement coming from a man who doesn't really fancy dessert. but the nilla praline cheesecake has won him over. so i made that today in prep for tomorrow.

i also decided, on a whim, to make a lemon cake, which was uber delicious! except with the oven being on all day, it made the kitchen quite toasty. so that explained why the pudding layer was melting which caused the top layer to slide off when i tried to cut the cake. oh well, it was so::: good anyways

tomorrow i'll be making balsamic salmon with green beans amandine for dinner and i'm super stoked for it!

i also might bring in some bread to work since i keep neglecting to bring maviela a dessert. hm...i hope i can pencil that in

chipotle is my love

it's been way too long since i've worked at Chipotle. that's probably why i got a job at the one by my house - and it's awesome. don't get me wrong, the one at school was super fun, but there weren't enough mexicans working the same time as me. maybe that's why i love working there?

no wait, it's definitely the free food that i get.

i was thinking about how my burrito has evolved over the years and it's pretty interesting to see the change in preference. if i recall correctly, the first time i had chipotle i don't think that i liked it a whole lot. it was definitely the second time i had it that i was in love.

although chipotle is totally delicious, it can totally not be nutritious. so i checked back with the chipotle calculator to see how my most current creation fares in comparison with what i used to get, and this is what i found

although it's not exact, because i don't use full servings of some ingredients, it's the best estimate i got. now in comparison with what i used to get, i feel less guilty about eating Chipotle 4 days a week...

someday i'm sure i'll come around and eat more barbacoa or try the medium-hot salsa, but i'll have to keep waiting for a spicier time when i can take the heat

oh jeez...

not quite sure why I wait so long in between writing in a journal, but it's about time i did so. Who knows, maybe this blog thing will allow me to develop better writing skills? But then again, perhaps it’s just another way for me to transfer my good intentions to something new without having to accept the fact that I have failed to actually keep up with something.

*sigh*

it’s silly to think that actually starting a blog will make me a strong enough writer to work for a place like nbc. Is that why I’m really doing this? Or is it because that’s what seems to be the latest thing to do? Or even just to move from one seemingly failed attempt at expression to a “promising and new” one? Ehh. It’s tough to say, but all I know is that xangas were fun in high school.

I do know that I can’t spend too much time on here tonight because I have to get up for work in the AM just like I have to do everyday…blah. Tomorrow I shall be assertive in my efforts to get out of the hecticly-scheduled mess that I always get myself into!! hold me to it. How many times will I have to go through this until I learn that over-offering availability breeds exhaustion and resentful behavior? It’s truly silly for a girl to think she knows what she wants : P
